PB Wiki (#16)

The wiki we use at the tech center is a PBWiki. So far it’s been great. (See blog #15).

Wiki (#15)

I had a head start with this one since the tech center already uses a wiki to track all the public pc issues, printers, workshops, tutoring schedules, etc.  It is really easy to use and better than emails on all these things because it keeps everyone informed in one place and all the staff can add to it as needed. Email updates are available which alert all users to recent changes in the wiki, so you know when it has been edited.

Library 2.0 (#14)

Read about all the new ideas, it’s very ambitious. I think we’re getting a pretty good preview of things to come with the 23 things. It will be interesting to see where all this innovation leads us.

Technorati (#13)

I decided not to claim my blog. I think I’m getting cynical about blogging as an ego-centric pasttime. Maybe I just need to do this when I have more time. It is impressive to see the search possibilites and the magnitude of what’s out there on any given subject.

Social Bookmarking with Delicious (#12)

I was skeptical at first - found the recommended tutorial to be somewhat hard to follow. But once I got on the site and searched on a few topics of interest I was impressed by how really useful this could be. Definitely would be a huge help doing research. I created my own account and will definitely visit this site again.

Library Thing (#11)

I think this is a fantastic site. A great way to organize your collection and it’s fun to use. I’m going to tell my husband about it since he has a ton of books and can never find one when he wants it. This is one of the best of the 23 things so far. Here’s my catalog, will definitely add to it:

I think it will be interesting to search this site for hard-to-find books.

Image Generators (#10)

I liked the following interactive site:

http://www.mrpicassohead.com/create.html

Create your own Picasso (well, sort of…)

It took a while to find as there are a huge number of fairly inane generator ideas out there.
